Okay so you will not be any adjustment in fashion with these, but the metal detector at full size which is usually seen, is not exactly the good kind. Therefore, it is safe to say that rather than using a metal detector is not completely related to their appearance. Besides this way you really do not have to carry anything, just wear a ridiculous pair of sandals and you're set. More if you're using pants, nobody is going to see the strange black box attached to your leg.
